Prints traditionally are 2-dimensional. There can be foreground and background within a print out, but nothing beats having a 3D effect.\u00a0

But as we all know, 3D printing can only be done when the input source of the image is taken in 3D, 99.9999% of our photos taken are in 2D. So how do we create a 3D effect?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The answer is: basic crafting!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Print out multiple copies of the same photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The photo print out should be the photo size that can fit the photo frame. In this case, we are using 6R photo frame<\/a> from Print For Fun<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: Frame the base layer photo first<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: Decide how to cut out the second layer and the third layer. This depends on the photo. Generally, it is whatever makes sense. In this case, the lady and baby are both sitting on top of the male. So it makes sense that the second layer is the whole family, while the third layer is the lady and the baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3: Cut out the shapes and paste spacers to create the depth. These spacers are created using some scrap kapaline board that I found lying around the office. You need to apply adhesive on both sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4: Paste them down. Pro-tip: It looks nicer when the top layers have more depth. I would use thicker kapaline boards or use 2 kapaline boards<\/a> next time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
