Canvas picture prints are made up of plain woven fabric which is usually made of cotton. It\u2019s fabric makes it durable and sturdy. Canvas is great for many uses such as sailing, painting, etc.  Many consider printing on cotton canvases higher-quality and closer to what you would find in a museum. But polyester canvas is the more affordable option, and it also yields bold and colorful prints.<\/span><\/p>\n

How are Canvas Picture Prints Made?<\/span><\/h2>\n

What makes canvas picture prints different from other cotton fabrics will be how it is made. Canvas picture prints are made by yarns weaved tightly together in a basic weave, and the fibers are thick and medium weight threads. With both the thread weight and basic weave technique, it differentiates canvas picture prints from other cotton fabrics. Furthermore, most of the cotton canvas picture prints are made up of two ply yarns which gives its weight and texture. <\/span><\/p>\n

Waterproof or Water resistant?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Canvas picture prints can become water resistant or even waterproof if they have more synthetic elements weaved into them. Apart from the base material, the other factor that determines if a canvas picture print is water resistant is the ink used. There are many types of inks that printers used for canvas picture printing. Some are more susceptible to moisture than others. For example, solvent inks can withstand water better than pigment inks. Typically, a clear protective spray would be applied such that a direct water exposure would not damage the print. This spray should only be applied after the canvas is cured. To ensure the canvas picture print lasts long, avoid hanging it in a place where there is direct sunlight as the UV rays would damage the picture print.<\/span><\/p>\n
